Degree Programs; Majors and Minors

RBC offers the following types of degrees:

Certificates – a specialized program that can be completed in less than two years by qualified students for specialized areas of Christian service. Applicable credits earned in the certificate programs may be applied to associate and baccalaureate degree programs.

AssociateDegrees – a two-year program to prepare students for career or volunteer Christian service or for Christian service in a specific vocation or technical area. Each associate program at Roanoke incorporates general studies, biblical and theological studies, and professional studies, for a total of 64 semester hours with curriculum based service-learning.

Bachelor of Science – a four-year degree composed of general studies, biblical and theological studies, professional studies, and electives totaling a minimum 128 semester hours (a foreign language is not required).

Bachelor of Arts – a four-year degree composed of general studies, including the study of a foreign language, biblical and theological studies, professional studies, and electives totaling a minimum 128 semester hours.

Majors

A major is an area of study that the student pursues, sometimes with a specialization or emphasis also selected within the major. Depending on the major and the degree, a major ranges from 30 to 50 semester hours.

Every student will have a major in Bible. The Biblical and Theological studies division has constructed two different courses of study. The course of study a student will follow is pre-determined by the area of study within professional studies.

Biblical Exposition – 49 semester credit hours

Biblical Studies BA – 30 semester credit hours

In addition to a major in Bible, students will choose a professional studies track. Currently RBC offers one major in a professional field.

Preaching – 40 semester credit hours

Minors

A minor is designed to supplement a student’s major field of study by providing an additional area of coursework.

Joint Degree Programs

Nursing with College of the Albemarle

      Students earn a B.S. in Biblical Studies from RBC. Students earn an A.A.S. in Nursing from COA, which can lead to a RN license.

Elementary Education

Secondary Education

      Students may choose to pursue state licensure for teaching in public schools. The state licensure option allows qualified students to dual-enroll at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU).
