Elementary State Licensure

My name is Patricia Griffin and I am education advisor (licensure option) at Roanoke Bible College. The licensure option provides qualified Roanoke students the opportunity to dual-enroll at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) as a transient student. However, most of your education courses are taken at RBC with a few at ECSU. Your degree would be from RBC. After completing the licensure requirements, students have their names and records submitted to the North Carolina State

Department of Public Instruction for the purpose of receiving state licensure for teaching in public schools.

The Elementary Education minor with teacher licensure option now requires a minimum of four and a half years to complete. Licensure will enable one to teach in the state of North Carolina in K-6 education. North Carolina has reciprocal teaching agreements with about 36 other states. We also have a secondary education program with ECSU. It requires additional hours in the chosen subject (math, history, English, etc.)

Some service and career opportunities include the following:

• Teacher in Christian School
• Teacher in public schools
• Teacher in foreign land
• Teaching English as a second language
• Teacher at home (home schooling)
• Teaching as a professional tutor
• Youth Director
• Children’s Minister

Student Testimonies

I transferred to RBC with an Associate’s Degree from another Bible college. I wanted to complete my bachelor’s degree but did not know how I was going to do it. I contacted RBC and learned of the licensure program with Elizabeth City State University. This program was exactly what I was looking for at the exact time. I enrolled in both schools and began taking classes to prepare me for my career as a teacher. The schedules always seemed to work out without conflicting with each other. I studied under several great professors and had a wonderful advisor at RBC.

I am currently teaching 6th grade in Tuscon, Arizona. I am grateful to RBC and ECSU for this program
