Dr. A. Eugene Andrews, Jr.
Professor of Preaching Ministry

Dr. A. Eugene Andrews, Jr. is the preaching ministry advisor and professor at Roanoke Bible College. A 1977 graduate of Roanoke Bible College, Dr. Andrews also holds two degrees from Cincinnati Bible College and Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Liberty University.

Are you ready for a challenge? Are you ready for an opportunity to do something dear to the heart of God? If so, then preaching ministry may be just the place for you!

Hi, my name is Gene Andrews and I serve as the advisor for the preaching ministry program at Roanoke Bible College. At RBC, we’re committed to the importance of preaching the Gospel of Christ and strengthening His Church.

Roanoke’s preaching ministry program is designed to equip men to preach the Word of God and to lead a church in effective growth.

In addition to quality classroom instruction, students are provided on-the-job training for ministry in field service opportunities. Students can gain practical experience through preaching in area congregations, ministering at local prisons, or helping to establish a new church plant. Students also travel to workshops and seminars across the United States. These trips prove to be times of renewal and inspiration for men training in ministry.

It would be a joy to see you join in the task of being a laborer in the Lord’s harvest field. If I can be of help to you as you consider Roanoke and the preaching ministry, please do not hesitate to contact me. Contact me at aea@roanokebible.edu or by phone at 252-334-2045.

PREACHER OF THE MONTH
MAY 2006 - MIKE LYNN

Mike Lynn graduated from Roanoke in 1985, having served two youth ministries while he was a student (Mount Olive in Belhaven, NC, and Community in Williamston, NC). He met and married Landra Martin '83 during college. In April of his senior year (1985), he was ordained by Community Christian Church, where he was serving the youth. He has preached for Northampton Church of Christ, Hampton, VA (associate, four years); Glen Lyn (VA) Church of Christ (almost ten years); Liberty Christian Church, Mechanicsville, VA (one and a half years); and now about five years for Gallipolis (OH) Christian Church. Mike has also earned an MA in Christian Leadership from Kentucky Christian University. His favorite text is 1 Tim. 4:16: "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers" (NIV). He loves being a preacher because "We . . . are truly in the life-changing, life-altering, life-transforming business! What else can even com-pare to that?" He and Landra have three children: Jessica, Kristen, and Nathan.

Student Testimonies

To understand Gods work is a life long process. Gods word is not only understanding the word of God, but being able to bring understanding of Gods word to all that will hear. The preaching program does a wonderful job in teaching the aspiring Minster to study and articulate Gods word effectively to whomever with listen. The program also matures the young Minister in developing as a Christian and an effective servant of God. Chris Jones

Three years ago, feeling Gods call to ministry, I entered the preaching ministry program at RBC. Before my freshman year was complete I was called to minister at a small rural church, exactly the kind of church I felt called to serve. The preaching ministry program has enabled me to fill this position even before I have completed my degree.
The most notable factor in my time at RBC is the dedication and genuineness of the staff and faculty. They have been an inspiration and encouragement to me throughout. Howard Guidry

The preaching program, chaired by Dr. Gene Andrews at RBC, is a good foundation in building ones self spiritually and emotionally for the various tasks and situations that one would face in being a preacher in Gods church. The single most important benefit to me personally has been the support of my fellow students in both the times of success and failure. These are the things that last a lifetime. Kenneth Wallace

I have been greatly blessed in my experience in the preaching program. God has really made me an instrument of His work. I love the training and tools received while in this program. I am thankful to Dr. Andrews and the supporters of the preaching program who have helped to give me a life skill to me, not only as a minister, but a more effective Christian in the Kingdom of God. Josh McDaniel
