Youth Ministry

Ken Greene
Professor of Youth Ministry
Chris McCarthy is in his fourth year as youth ministry advisor and instructor at Roanoke Bible College. He has a B.S. in Bible and Theology from Roanoke Bible College and a M.A. in Practical Ministry from Cincinnati Bible College and Seminary.

It's bigger than a stepping stone. It's sooner than the church of tomorrow. It's deeper than babysitting. It's a call to one of the most difficult yet rewarding ministries in the kingdom. And I pray it's what God has in mind for you.

Introduction to Youth Ministry" lays a strong theological foundation for a faithful and relevant ministry to students.  "Methods and Resources of Youth Ministry" focuses on current trends and practical ways of reaching a postmodern generation.  "Youth Ministry Planning and Administration" focuses on programming and leadership principles vital to every growing youth ministry. Finally,  the most important and most rewarding course for the program is the "Youth Ministry Internship."

Even with all the formal academics in place, it's the relationships you will form among fellow Christians who believe in the power of youth ministry that will equip you the most.  With that in mind, I can't wait to meet you.  If I can be of help to you as you consider Roanoke and ministry to youth, please do not hesitate to contact me at ksg@roanokebible.edu or by phone at 252-334-2049.

Student Testimonial

The RBC youth ministry program has been a priceless investment for me. Thanks to classes like Youth Ministry Planning and My days in the youth ministry program at Roanoke Bible College have been time well spent.  I've learned much from the classes.

This summer I had the opportunity to do my internship through Doxology (a summer recruitment team).  I met so many youth ministers, preachers, elders, and leaders in the church.  Each week, out of the eight that I traveled, I got acquainted with someone new and was able to watch and learn from their lives.  Also each week, I mentored one young man.  The connections and friendships that have been made are priceless.  Traveling this summer allowed me to get a taste for what youth ministry is really like.

None of this would have been accomplished if I were not in the youth ministry program.  It has prepared me for ministry inside and outside the church.  This program can do the same for you.  So, if you want to learn, grow, make an impact on others and have fun at the same time, join the youth ministry program at RBC.

Opportunities for Youth Ministry

Please email Ken Greene if you are an individual looking for available youth ministries, or if your congregation is in need of a full-time or part-time youth minister.  We are also constantly on the lookout for churches who would be willing to minister to our students by mentoring them through a summer internship.
